"Mam is absent!"

In a moment classroom turned into a playroom. Children were shouting, playing, paper planes were flying everywhere.

She was sitting, cupping her face with her hands, trying to concentrate but the noises of vehicles from the nearby road were very distracting. Just then a plane came flying and landed near her feet.

The next moment, her happiness knew no bounds.

God gifted her with a piece of paper she asked long ago.

She could now write and learn.

Tears rolled down her cheek and myriad of emotions crossed his face,looking at the beautiful tear-stricken face in front of him. He stood rock still holding her to him the same way he held her 15 years back "please amu don't cry";"but why did ma papa leave us?" asked 9 year old amu. "God loved them more amu, I will take care of you so stop crying because from now on i am your mom and i am your dad." said 12 year old Avi.
He did exactly the same and amu was indeed a spoilt kid. 
Today,15years later when his dear sister is parting away from him, going to her own home avi tries to subside a big lump in his throat. Recovering his equilibrium he turns to Kabir "Please take care of my baby sister.Asingle drop of tear and you have me to answer." his threat was almost a sob.
"Bhaiya if she ever drops a tear that will only be out of happiness" kabir said winking at amu.
"Take care  of yourself bhaiya,i will miss you" said amu after a beat.
Avi was satisfied but worried at the same time,giving away amu to her childhood friend kabir but worried because she was like sunshine in a perpetual night ,like cool water flowing in his desert like life, and somebody hurting her or the very thought of losing her was like a knife twisting in his soul. But deep down he knew kabir would not hurt her,ever.
And there he was all his worst fears realised,standing all alone with nobody on his side to console him.
Soon he was lost in his thoughts how painstakingly he left his own studies so that amu could continue her studies and he tried to fulfill all the responsibilities with abosulutely no regrets because today he was the CEO of a huge agricultural company.
His reverie was broken by a tap on his shoulder,Manorama mausi was standing there,smiling "Don't worry about her,she will be fine but beta,now its high time you start thinking about your marriage."
"But mausi who would want to marry  a college drop out like me" he said "moreover I am happily single"he added quickly,too quickly.
"Child,you are one of the most respected businessman of the city and trust me there are so many girls wanting to marry you. Besides,Kabir's sister Meera is head over heels for you,think about it."
He never thought about Meera like that and meera being hopelessly in love with him irritated him but made him guilty at the same time because he couldn't reciprocate.
"But mausi how can I--" mausi cut him in mid sentence "you cannot say no,meera now belongs to amu's in laws and amu's future depends on it...think about it and i won't take no for an answer,such a baeutiful girl she is."
